There are brands everywhere that are always coming out with something new and exciting. It's insane how much good stuff is out there for your skin. Some may be pricey and some may not be, so do not let the prices of products steer you away.

One brand that I came across is Jan Marini Skin Research (JMSR). Jan Marini was founded in 1994 in San Jose, CA. They are recognized as the leader in innovative skincare. Jan Marini believes that skin care should not only address the current conditions of your skin. Their focus is to provide innovative technologies that deliver the best results and they are committed to satisfying their customers.

I love getting surprises in the mail, and you can bet your ass I was thrilled when I was able to get my hands on a Skincare Management System. This Management System has clinically proven technologies that can give you results within a few days. It'll improve the appearance of those pesky fine lines & wrinkles, redness, acne and acne scarring and hyper-pigmentation. Doesn't this all sound amazing? Check out the pictures below with a small review of what each item does.

So here's what you get inside the box. There are 5 steps to this system; Cleanse, Rejuvenate, Resurface, Hydrate and Protect. How easy is that? Don't worry it also comes with directions.

Step One: Cleanse

This is the Bioglycolic Cleanser with glycolic acid. It's suitable for all skin types and contains sorbital, a natural humectant derived from berries. Whats different about this cleanser is you use it on your face completely dry. It was definitely weird, but in a good way, at first. Once I blotted off the cleanser with a wet towel, my face felt refreshed and super soft. I didn't even need to use a toner after cleansing my face.

Step Two: Rejuvinate

Ahhh The C-Esta Face Serum that dramatically rejuvenates your skin. I can honestly tell you that this serum really does get the job done. My skin feels so much smoother, supple and tighter.

Step Three: Resurface

The Bioglycolic Bioclear Face Lotion is the resurfacing step. It makes my skin brighter and more even toned. It also helps with discoloration from being out in the sun and helps with fine lines & wrinkles too!

Step Four: Hydrate

The Transformation Face Cream helps my skin feel healthy, smooth to the touch and look more youthful. I love that you can use this on sensitive skin. You can definitely expect decrease in the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.

Step Five: Protect

The final step to this Skincare Management System is of course the protection stage. This is the Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 33. I love that this protectant contains microscopic sponges for extra oil control. It contains benefits from phytomelanin and beta glucan 1,3, which helps prevent damaged that was caused by sun exposure. Not only does it prevent it, it helps reverse sun damage. Texture wise, it's perfect, not too runny and most certainly not too thick, and it works great before your makeup application.

Overall, I really like this system. Each single product in this kit is perfect, none of it is too runny or too thick. Did I forget to mention that everything smells heavenly? Which is great for me because I am sensitive to strong scents. You also don't need a lot of product for this system to work. I know you're all wondering if it's worth the steep price tag. With product this amazing that delivers results, it's definitely worth it! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
That's where Comodynes comes in with products like the self-tanning towelettes and moisturizing lotions that help keep your tan up-to-date.

Comodynes Towelettes are available in two intensities, natural or intensive. Application is as simple has applying lotion! Just apply to clean, dry skin and voila! A tanner looking you in about 3 hours! To maintain your new tan, make sure you use a towelette about every 4 days.

I can't believe how fast 2014 flew by, which I am grateful for. Working Full time and going to school full time is kind of exhausting. But hey, I know all this sacrificing my family and I have had to deal with will all be worth it in the end.

Recap of the past year of beauty school... The first 3 months are what they call a Discovery phase. In this phase we learn about all the State Board regulations. :: shiver:: State Board is kind of a scary and very stressful test. The next 3 months they call the Inspiration phase. In this phase is where we learned all of the technical aspects of cutting and coloring. I learned the Wella Color chart, super overwhelming at first but once you do something over and over you remember it. Cutting was also a challenge because I had to learn how to cut "palm to palm". This cutting style will help prevent carpal tunnel later on in life. I took an extra course called Be Creative. In this class I broke all of the rules that I learned in the previous 3 months. I learned how to cut the totally opposite way, played with creative color. At the end of it we had a photo shoot to end the 6 week class. Was it worth the extra money? Heck yeah it was! I loved the Be Creative class, it definitely helped me be more confident in what I was doing.

I'm currently in my 2nd to last phase of school, which is the Floor phase. This is where I am currently taking clients, cutting and coloring hair. People always ask me - What do you like doing better? Cutting or Coloring? To be honest with you I like doing both! I don't like one or the other more. The last phase of school is what's called State Board. This is where you're blocked off from working on clients to study for our State Board test. The test is about 4 1/2 hours long... Yes I said hours. It consists of practical, which is the physical aspect, and the written, self explanatory this is the written test portion.

I'm happy with school and almost being done. There are certain things that probably need to change. Of course when you go to school full of girls, there's bound to be drama. Thankfully I mind my own business and do my own thing. I have made some life long friends and am grateful to have crossed paths with these amazing people. Overall, school is great. I've learned so much about Cosmetology, things that I didn't even know pertained to becoming a Cosmetologist. Here's a few questions you can ask yourself, because I ask myself all the time; What are you going to school for? Why?Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15635084023868375278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-39609360272370565.post-16083552449245890912014-03-02T11:18:00.000-08:002014-03-02T11:18:21.133-08:00[BELLUS] 1 Month down, 15 more to go!

Some of you may have known that I started going to Bellus Academy in Poway. What is Bellus?? Bellus is a well known beauty school, aka the "Harvard" of beauty schools. They offer many different courses with in the beauty industry including; Cosmetology, Esthetician, Master Therapy, Holistic Health Practitioner, Nail Spa Technician and Make-up Artistry. They also offer other advanced studies within some of the programs. They have some amazing teachers that actually care about you and your education. Oh and they offer financial aid.

I toured this school a total of 3 times before I signed my contract to attend. You're probably thinking "what the heck, 3 times?"... Yes, you read that right lol. The first time I toured it, it was owned by someone else and although I liked it then, I just wasn't financially ready for it. The second time I toured it, it looked totally different, new owner, new look, new programs. I loved it this time, but my finances failed me again. The third time I toured it, I told myself this is my last chance. I'm either going to do it now or never. They were able to get my whole program covered with financial aid and some pell grants. So now you're looking at a soon to be Cosmetologist!

If you're ever looking to become a Cosmetologist or Esthetician or any other beauty related fields, make sure that you look into the school and what they are accredited for. You want to go to a school that will give you a top notch education. I know that money can be a factor, that's also why I chose Bellus because they offered financial aid. I've only been in school for a month, and I love it. I've met some great new people who share the same passion as I do. The teachers are great and know what they are teaching. One of the best choices I've made. Now I have about 15 months to go. Seems like a long time but I am hoping it will just fly by!
While I was at work today I received a package from UPS. I was just

These little surprises from the Vogue Influencer Network makes me
smile. I was totally not expecting anything, let alone a purse.
The purse is really cute. The color that Brahmin sent is Saffron Melbourne. Its a mustardy yellow color. It's not bad, not my first color choice but it's a nice pop of color. The size is perfect for date night type purse or a girls night out. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II - very large cell phone, so as long as my phone fits in it, I'm a happy girl.
Have you checked out Brahmin? What do you think of their products?
I really love this tool, especially because for some reason now that I'm a little (dare I say it) older, I'm more susceptible to breaking out - yuck.

PMD Personal Microderm was having a huge giveaway and I happened to be one of their winners (I only paid for shipping and handling), so, in return I am giving it away to one of you! The value of this unit is $179.00 but keep in mind that I did win a factory refurbished unit. It's new in the box and never used. The unit that I reviewed I received directly from Beauty Collection. Pictures below are of the unit that I won and am giving away.

As you can see it comes with the essentials you need. This unit comes with the PMD tool, adapter, about 4 discs blue and greens ones, a CD, two suction cups (one for the smaller discs and one for the larger discs), and 3 samples. Not just for your face and body...But your nails too!I went to get nails done on Sunday because they needed to be filled. I ended up taking my acrylics off and redoing them because I wanted them a little longer and wider. I usually just do the natural fill with a clear coat on top. It's pretty abnormal for my nail technician because most people who get their nails done want the whole Sha-Bang. But being me, I change my nail color pretty often, I'd say about once a week, so I tell my technician "just a clear coat please!". I get home and put on a thin coat of Orly's Sheer Nude........
Yeah this lasted me ONE DAY! LOL. My friends were right, who was I kidding! Bare nails are not for me. Even my husband thought my bare nails looked weird - I do not concur with his thoughts.

So with New Years around the corner, I decided to go sparkly! You know me, I love my shiny things. Instead of just using any regular ol' glitter polish I decided to use my Eye Kandy Cosmetics Glitter and turn that into nail polish. I did a little step by step Ombre look, I think you'll love it. Check it out.

All the materials you need

Materials Used:
Beauty Secrets Hardener - I got this from Sally's and used this to mix with the Eye Kandy Glitter.
Eye Kandy Glitters - I used Toffee and a limited edition color Winter Wonderland.
Seche Vite - Top coat.
Makeup Wedges - Used to create the Ombre look, you can get at any drug store or Target or Walmart.
Scrap piece of plastic - I used this to mix the clear coat and glitter together. You can even use an old CD.

Step One:
I mixed the Beauty Secrets Hardener with a little bit of the Eye Kandy Glitter in Toffee. Then I dipped the makeup wedge and started on the tip of my nails and gradually dabbed upwards. I did this to all of my nails and waited for them to dry a bit.

Step one with Toffee on my pinky nail

Step Two:
I mixed the Beauty Secrets Hardener with a little bit of the Eye Kandy Glitter in Winter Wonderland. Then I dipped a different makeup wedge and started where I left off with the Toffee. I started pretty close to the tip because I wanted that Ombre look and just kept gradually dabbing upwards.

Voila - finished product. Taken without flash.

Step Three:
I used the Seche Vite as my top coat. Watch closely when you're doing this final step because you will see how much more your nails will shine once you put the top coat on. You think that your nails were shiny before the top coat- oh boy they sure are shiny after a nice top coat.
I LOVEEEE the way my nails came out. Its super extremely shiny. I swear it seems shinier than a regular glitter polish. These pictures do not do the glitters justice. Well it also doesn't help that I did this at night time with no natural lighting - tee hee. You can pretty much do this with any of the Eye Kandy Glitter colors. Check out their Facebook for tons of ideas and updates. They have TONS of beautiful colors - you'll want them all! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my mini tutorial!
Hope everyone has a fantastic and safe New Years! See you all next year!
Only probably because I have a full time job, 3 kids and a husband - I only have so much time on my hands. Anyway, I needed some white eye lashes for a photo shoot I'm working on THIS Saturday - YES that's in like 3 days! I have no time to order any and I didn't want to because most of them were way overpriced for a one time use - Ridiculous!! So, what do you think I did? Well, I made my own lashes and added a flair of glitter to them. Check them out!

I'm also a nail polish junkie, so I thought hmmm why not just paint them white! I grabbed my Borghese polish and started painting away. Then I grabbed my Eye Kandy glitters in Confetti and Marshmallow and sprinkled them onto the wet lashes. Why did I use my Eye Kandy Cosmetic glitters?? Well because these lashes will be on my model's eyes... If the glitter were to flake off, even a little bit, it will not irritate the eyes. Besides, makeup glitter is way better than craft glitter. You definitely do not want to put craft glitter near your eyes. Play the safe card like I did and use makeup glitter. As a contact wearer, I LOVE that Eye Kandy glitters do not irritate the heck out of my eyes. So why not use the best glitter out there? Doesn't the glitter give these lashes pizazz?? It's totally what I was going for and I needed something "Ice Queen"-ish. I will totally update this post with some more pictures of these lashes in action when we finish the photo shoot and my awesome friend Kristine sends me some "sneak peaks".

Wanna know how I did this? Keep on reading!

Firstly, get your Eye Kandy glitter in Confetti and Marshmallow and mix them together. I used a tad more Marshmallow than Confetti for these lashes.
Step One:
Paint on the white nail polish to the lashes, one coat at a time. I did about 3 coats on each lash using the 3rd coat as a "wet glue" to adhere the glitter to them.

Step Two:
Take your Eye Kandy Glitters mixture and sprinkle over the WET polish. Let dry. Tap the lashes a bit to release the glitter that didn't stick to the lashes.

Step Three:
Flip the lashes over and tape them in place and repeat steps one and two for the underside of the lashes.

Top - 1 coat, Middle - 2 coats, Bottom - 3 coats plus glitter

Lastly, once you've finished glittering the underneath, let it dry a little bit but not fully because then you'll want to flip them and rearrange in your lash tray so that they will fully dry with the curve of the lash tray.

Since this is my first time doing this, I thought it would be fun to actually try them on. Please excuse the photo quality and my lack of makeup and tired eyes - had a long day at work lol. The lashes are a little heavier than you're use to but you get use to them. They don't feel or look like they are weighed down at all from the polish. I think they are actually pretty comfortable, and shinnnnnny. Check it out and let me know what you think??
I am very grateful to have met and worked with some very talented people, from models, to photographers to people who design and make custom wardrobes. Networking makes my world go round, and I love it.

Yesterday's collaboration turned out beautifully. The custom made wardrobe for 'Alice' turned out 100 times better than I could have ever imagined. Onsite location was perfect, and of course our photographer worked her magic and took a lot of great photos. She captured every movement and pose as she always does with all of her work. Makeup was on point, some may think a little scary but that's the look we were going; for a darker version of Alice. All in all, yesterday's photo shoot was something special and I loved every minute of it. I don't have all of the photos, but check out the few that I do have below.

Let's face it, my eye brows are not perfect. I know of one person that I can think of that has a set of eye brows that I would DIE for. My friend, Julie, she has amazing eye brows. They're thick but not super thick, dark and had the perfect shape and I had the privilege of grooming them for her... Anyway, sorry, was getting off topic - sort of. Onto the review.

I love Sigma Beauty brushes, but have never tried their make up before. When I saw that they were coming out with the Brow Design kit ($69.00), I had to get it. It was everything that I needed in a brow kit; grooming tools, stencils, a jumbo highlight pencil, a jumbo eye brow pencil, eye brow gel in tint and clear, 5 different shades of eye brow powder, an angled brush and a jumbo pencil sharpener. What more could a girl ask for? A few things actually...

As you can see in the very top picture, the box it comes in is nice, no doubt about that. One thing I would change about it though is the bulkiness of the box. As a professional makeup artist, this kit is just way too bulky for me to lug around along with all of my other makeup. I just couldn't understand why this awesome kit was so bulky! Another thing I would probably get rid of is the TINY mirror. It really serves no purpose because you need a bigger mirror if you're going to define your eye brows the right way. I also would change the fact that that jumbo pencils are just too big, maybe that's why they made the box so big?

As for the quality of the powders, I LOVE them. They are highly pigmented and of awesome quality. I've actually had this kit for almost a year now and I still use it. Yes, I know it's been a year, what can I say - I've been busy =). But that does go to show that I've had this kit for a very long time and I still have not made a dent in the one color I use most. My brows and clients brows lasts all day long, the powders don't flake or bleed. I'm probably also fired because I don't have swatches, yet. I will get to it and update this post, I promise. I do like the jumbo matte and shimmery highlight pencils. They get the job done, I just hate that they are so "jumbo". I don't really use brow gel so I don't have any negative or positive feed back on that.

This is my before and after. Before is a little scary...lol

Overall I do love this kit. The colors are on point and quality is wonderful. The price is right for the quality. As for this kit in my professional makeup case, it is not for me. As I stated before, the kit is bulky and does not fit right in my professional kit. Would I recommend this kit to my friends and fans? Yes, I would. It's a great kit for starters and serves it's purpose.
I am super grateful to have met my friend Kristine of Kristine Wahner Photographer. Today we went on a fun escapade and I decided to call it "Zombies are taking over the world". They aren't really, but today's photo shoot was fun. Something different and out of the ordinary but still super fun to create a zombie featuring Janel of Dollface Janel. I even made my own fake blood, super easy to do. Check it out below.

We all know who to credit for our upbringing; our mom's of course! Now, she doesn't even have to be blood related to be your mom. I know a lot of people out there don't know who or where their biological moms are but that's okay. Because the lovely lady that you call "mom" is your mom no matter what the DNA results say.

This contest is for deserving moms. If you know someone, you should definitely nominate them for a day of Glamour! Check out the contest at Kristine's blog here for more information on how you can nominate a deserving mom. Don't forget to like Kristine's FB Page and my FB Page for updates.Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15635084023868375278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-39609360272370565.post-87950404020202449902013-02-05T21:02:00.001-08:002013-02-05T21:02:49.811-08:00[Experience] Boudoir Photo Shoot First of all HAPPY NEW YEAR! I know I've been MIA, and I apologize for that, but I am back now. I'm only back part time, but I am back none the less =).

I love networking. Did I tell you guys how much I LOVE networking? Seriously, it's the best thing to do especially if you're trying to run a business. I came in contact with a wonderful photographer, Kristine of Sisters Photography. I was fortunate enough to work her Boudoir Photo shoot. Check out my FB page for some photos here.

Fun Fact: Did you know that boudoir is pronounced bow-du-wah [figures since it's kind French]? Maybe I'm the only one that didn't know - oops =).

Moving forward. I had such a wonderful experience. It was definitely worth the 11 hour day. I met some amazing women and was able to help make them feel THAT much more confident before they took their photos. I, myself, am not that comfortable with my body, but after seeing these ladies bare it all with such confidence, I feel like partaking in one of these shoots one day.

If you're local to San Diego, Ca and want to do a Boudoir photo shoot, then you should definitely get in contact with Kristine at Sisters Photography. Kristine understands how intimate and private the Boudoir shoots are and she takes everyone's privacy very seriously. When you're in the studio, its just you and her, no one else - unless of course you're having a girls day Boudoir shoot, then that's a different story. You can check out Kristine's FB page here. Don't forget to "like" her page!

That's all I have for now. Keep an eye out for my next reviews. There's tons I need to tell you all about, I just haven't gotten around to writing it down. Soon my beauties, soon.Samhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15635084023868375278noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-39609360272370565.post-80842362339178967712012-10-10T16:55:00.001-07:002012-10-10T16:55:32.315-07:00[Review] Eyes, Eyes and more!I've been lagging on a new review post, I know I know, I'm fired. Kidding! But I do apologize for taking way too long to do another post. I have had this annoying cough for over a week and a half, and then my entire family got sick, it's just been a pain in the butt if you ask me. Anyway! Onto some reviews. Last time I left off at my awesome Mehron Blush palette, so moving forward. Cinema Secrets Eye Primer:

Let's start off with an eye lid primer. I LOVE Cinema Secrets Eye Primer. It's really amazing and I wouldn't say that if it isn't. I've used primers before where I've had to use a "wet" eye shadow application, but with this eye primer, no more wet applications for me! That's how awesome it is, it doesn't require a wet application to pick up the pigments from my eye shadows! I love it, I love it, I love it! Texture wise, I was iffy about it, because it is really runny, but you don't need a ton of product. Just a tiny dab [see picture] and you can cover BOTH EYES with just that much. It spreads easily and goes on super sheer. Seriously a must have in your makeup bag.

Camera Ready Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner:

I've always used a pencil eyeliner or liquid eyeliner, and I still do on occasion. Then I started using Gel Eyeliners and seriously, I hardly go back to using pencil or liquid. The Camera Ready Cosmetics Gel Eye Liner is superb. It glides on easy, color is on point and it lasts all day long. I used this Gel eyeliner to do makeup for my friends wedding and it did not budge all night. Texture is perfect and it doesn't flake at all. Definitely worth a try if you're into Gel eyeliners or if you're just beginning.

Kryolan Cake Eyeliner:

Besides being in infatuated with Gel Eyeliners, cake eyeliners are on a whole different level. It's a mix between powder and liquid because it comes in the form of a powder but glides on super easy like a liquid eyeliner. My most favorite cake eyeliner is made by Kryolan. This stuff is amazing! You might get fooled if you've never used a Cake eyeliner before because you will need a sealer. I mean you can use water, but this works so much better with a good sealer [I use Cinema Secrets Eyeliner Sealer]. If you love liquid eyeliner, then you'll definitely love the Kryolan Cake Eyeliner. All you need is your eyeliner brush and a sealer and it goes on smoothly. It doesn't flake or fade, and lasts all day. This is definitely something to have in your makeup kit.

Camera Ready Indelible Lash Waterproof Mascara:

I'm a mascara whore. Why - because I love that it just opens up the eyes and makes your eyes pop that much more. Not all mascaras are made equal, some are good and some are horrible. That is why I want to tell you how much I really like the Camera Ready Indelible Lash. It's a waterproof mascara that does what it says, water resistant. It doesn't smudge or flake and lasts all day long. It's not very thick so you will need a few swipes, but I don't have an issue with that. I for one do not need a few swipes, I'm actually good with 1 or 2, depending on the look I'm going for. I bought this for more than one reason, 1. I needed a waterproof mascara and 2. I really like the design of the tube. It's totally different, almost like a squeezable type but you can't really squeeze it. Yes, I am different, I bought a beauty product because of the design - lol. This mascara gets two thumbs up from me.

Model in a Bottle:

No, it's not a genie that comes out and grants you any beauty wish you want. Although that would be awesome. It's actually a matte finishing spray. I love this Model in a Bottle Matte Finishing Spray. It has a nice and clean scent that's not too overwhelming. It dries within seconds of use, isn't sticky and sets your makeup perfectly. It also does not clog your pores and doesn't interfere with your SPF. You really can't go wrong with a finishing spray. You get about 300 sprays with this cute little bottle and it's definitely worth the buy. Also, if you have sensitive skin, don't fret, they do have this in a sensitive skin formula. Yay!

Beauty Blender Cleanser:

Not an ordinary brush cleaner, but a Beauty Blender Cleanser. It's a gel, almost like dish soap, but I want to say it's a tiny bit thicker. I love this cleanser. It seriously makes the beauty blending sponges spotless and look brand new like you've never used it before. You don't need a ton of product to clean your beauty blender, just a small drop and you're good to go. I've cleaned about 6 beauty blenders with this, and barely made a dent in the product. It has a nice mild Lavender scent. I haven't tried this on my makeup brushes yet but I will keep you guys updated on that. Super awesome cleanser to have and I recommend this to anyone who has a beauty blender [or generic beauty blender].

Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner:

Lastly, I have the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner. I LOVE this bright blue toned brush cleaner. It's great for on site use because it cleans and sanitizes the brushes and dries quickly. It's safe to use on synthetic or natural hairs and will leave your brushes with a nice vanilla scent. Sadly, I only purchased the smaller sized bottle because I wanted to test it out and now I know I MUST have it. This time I will splurge and get the big bottle. As if you couldn't tell, but you must have this brush cleaner too!

Oh My!I will be doing short reviews of a ton of products that I bought from Camera Ready Cosmetics. I'm pretty sure I've told you guys how awesome this store is, but if not, check out my shopping review here. Review

Cinema Secrets Foundation Primer:
I just started using Cinema Secrets Foundation Primer and I LOVE it. I used it for my friends' wedding party and herself on her wedding day and it was absolutely perfect. Their makeup did not budge or fade. It's a great filler too, it fills up my small wrinkles and I really like that it's clear and dries clear. It leaves your skin silky soft. You don't need to use a ton of product to get the job
done - which is awesome, less money for me to spend! Foundation application afterward glides on easily and flawlessly.

Mehron No Sweat Primer:
I sweat A LOT. I mean, I can walk to the kitchen and I will start feeling beads of sweat pop up on my nose or forehead. I hate that I sweat so much, and this humidity we've been having does not help. Thank goodness I found the Mehron No Sweat Primer! It does what it says, it keeps my face from sweating off the makeup I just applied. It's so easy to use, just dampen your cotton ball a little bit and lightly apply the primer to sweat prone areas, like your forehead and/or nose and then let it dry before you apply your makeup. It does not leave your makeup streaky and it doesn't make your make up run. It dries quickly and doesn't smell at all. Overall, great product that I love and use every day. [Sorry for the horrible picture, it's not very easy taking pictures of products that are as clear as day...lol]
Quick Blending Sponge:
I know y'all have heard of the Beauty Blender, well this, my loves is a budget friendly blending sponge. When I first saw these funky shaped sponges at IMATS, I thought to myself "What in the world is that thing?!". I didn't even bother giving it a chance then, but oh how I wish I would have bought them sooner. The Quick Blending Sponge is amazing! They work soooooooooo much better then those throw away white wedges. It helps you apply your foundation flawlessly, easy to use and it's reusable! I don't think I've used my foundation brushes in a while after using the Quick Blending Sponges. Definitely try one out for yourself.

Graftobian Super Palettes:
I didn't always have to wear foundation, but as I age [nearing 30], I feel the need to cover up my age spots. I have been using my Graftobian Super Palette in warm and I love it. It's not cakey at all, which is my number one must have with foundations. It also covers really well without having to use a ton of product. It's a bit runnier than other foundations, but doesn't run after it's applied. You can easily mix different colors together to get the perfect match for your skin tone. These Super Plattes come in 3 different palettes; Warm, Cool and Neutral. Each palette has 18 different shades. I only purchased the Warm and Cool palettes.Worth the money? Absolutely! Check out the pictures and swatches below. [This portion is pretty photo heavy]
Ben Nye Pressed Powder Palette:
I don't think I'll ever go back to regular store brand powders after using my Ben Nye Pressed Powder Palette. I use my Mojave palette every day, the powders are amazing. The colors are fantastic and are just my colors [if you didn't know, I have a hard time finding the perfect shade]. It covers really well and does not give an orangey hue, unlike some of my store brand powders that I have used in the past. If you're a lighter toned beauty, fret not, because there is a Bella Palette that is filled with lighter shades for you. I don't use this palette, well because as y'all know I'm on the tanner side of the color scale. Ben Nye has become one of my favorite brands to use, truly a wonderful brand that produces amazing products. Definitely worth it. Check out the swatches and pictures below.
When I don't have time in the morning to get all spiffy for work, I just throw on some RCMA Loose Powder [No Color] on over my foundation. I love it because I don't have to worry about matching my my powder color to my skin tone. Although the powder looks like a pure solid white, it's translucent. It gives my face that matte look and feel that I love and also covers pretty well. It does not change the color of my foundation at all, which is definitely a must have in a No Color powder. I love that I don't have to use a whole lot of product, a little really does go a long way.

Mehron Blush Palette:
Once I started wearing blush, I kind of got addicted to it - haha. No really, adding just a little amount really defines the face so much more. I use to not really wear blush, because I thought it was too bright, or it didn't look right. You just need to know how to wear it and what colors go best with your skin tone. That is why I chose to buy a Mehron Blush Palette, because I didn't know what colors would look good on me or not. So I bit the bullet and bought the 8 color palette. I'm so glad I did. The colors are so bold and beautiful, even if you have some color to your skin tone, the pigmentation on these blushes are a-freaken-mazing. It lasts pretty much all day, so you won't have fading blush while you're trying to look your best. Best of all, I don't have to use a lot of product to get the right color.
I have been meaning to post a review of some of the new brands I've been using, but I have been pressed for time lately. Now that my friend's wedding is over I can tell you how much I am loving my new products. First, you guys definitely need to check out Camera Ready Cosmetics. Seriously, the best store I've come across. They have tons of high quality brands that Pro Makeup Artist use. I cannot stay away from the store, if I could, I would probably buy everything [haha].

Photo taken from Cinema Secrets "About Us" page of Maurice Stein

Although I have a ton to review about from my recent purchases at Camera Ready Cosmetics, I'm just going to start with the Cinema Secrets brand. Cinema Secrets was founded by Maurice Stein in 1984. He is most famous for his part as a makeup artist in Planet of the Apes [I know we've all seen this]. His work was astounding in the movie and touched many faces of the industry. Did you know that he was also the very FIRST makeup artist to be inducted in the California Cosmetology Association Hall of Fame and is included in the National Cosmetology Association Hall of Renown? Well if you didn't know, now you know. Really such an amazing and inspiring man that I would love to meet one day [a girl can dream right?].

Review

I needed a foundation that does it all. I wanted one that covers really well, one that isn't super cakey or have the cakey look or feel, one that I also don't need to use a ton of product and one that will last a long time. I'm so glad I came across Cinema Secrets. They have an amazing line of products, but by far their foundation is amazing. Since I was the makeup artist for my friend's wedding, I needed a variety of foundation colors, so I purchased 2 of the Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation Kit [kit #3 and kit #8] from Camera Ready Cosmetics.

I actually use this EVERYDAY and even after the wedding, I still have a TON of products left over. This foundation did everything I wanted it to do. I didn't have to use a whole lot of product to get the job done. Colors were amazing, and easy to mix to get the perfect shade. It lasted all night through out my friends wedding and did not smear or run at all. I love the fact that you get a whole lot of bang for your buck. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg which is definitely a huge plus. So if you're looking for a great foundation, try Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation Kit. I'm sure one of these kits will have your shade in it, there's about 11 different color kits! It is truly amazing.

Now for the fun part. Swatches and photos from the wedding that I was honored to be the makeup artist in. I didn't want to bombard you with a ton of pictures, okay really I didn't have a whole lot of time. So I combined the swatches [please be advised that I have used some of the foundations before taking pictures].
I hope you guys enjoyed this review/blog post! Check out my dedicated Makeup website, Makeup by Sammie. It's still in the works. I'm still trying to find old pictures of makeup applications I've done to put up. But so far, what I have on there is the most recent.

I even do what I call an online "window" shop (LOL), which is where I find things I like, and add it to my cart. Then of course I'll go back and double check my cart, and see how much damage I've done. If I don't necessarily need it, I'll delete it. BUT boy that is the hard part, letting go is so hard to do!

I came across this website, Camera Ready Cosmetics, that I abso-freaken-lutely love. I swear it was fate that led me to Camera Ready because my friend was in need of a makeup artist for her wedding. The other great thing about it is that they are located in San Diego, a mere 20 minutes from me. So I jet down there after work one day and of course was totally in love with the cute little store. You can also purchase online, they ship WORLDWIDE. They have everything a makeup artist dreams of and this store is open to the public.

Ashlie, the cashier, was there helping me with such great customer service. I had my 3 boys with me and of course they were getting bored and antsy. But Ashlie was still so helpful through out my shopping trip. She recommended a few things that actually helped me save a few bucks, which I really appreciated.

Of course after my shopping trip, I look through all of my awesome new makeup, I find that I forgot a few things. Boo me! But, I am so grateful that I can purchase online from Camera Ready Cosmetics and have my items shipped to me in about 2 days. Seriously, shipping is super fast and everything was packaged nicely to insure that nothing breaks. If you're ever in need of some high quality makeup that you don't normally see in stores like Sephora or Ulta, then you need to check out Camera Ready Cosmetics. I'll have reviews up of the products I bought when I'm all done with this wedding, so keep a look out for that! Check out my haul below.
Find... A... Makeup Organizer!I use to have one of those makeup caboodles, not a fancy one, just one from Target. I loved it. It kept all of my makeup in one place, even though I needed a bigger one, it still did it's job. I traveled with it on year and the airline SHATTERED it. I was really bummed about it and have not found a replacement yet. Where to look? If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear it!

Here's what I'm looking for:

1.) Mobile - I want something that's mobile, preferably on wheels (I would also like to have a good quality one).
2.) Needs to be big so that I can have BOTH my makeup and nail polishes.
3.) I also need a stationary one that I can keep at home for my overflow of products.

I know, I know, I should have posted reviews a lot sooner than I am now... hey better late than never right? I am so glad I went to IMATS because it's just a HUGE makeup show with vendors displaying their products, artists showing off their talents and Pros doing seminars and classes. I love online shopping, but when it comes to makeup it's kind of hard to gauge what colors really look like in person. So at IMATS I was able to test products, just like going to Sephora or the makeup counter at the mall, but imagine it 10x's bigger than any makeup counter or store.
One of the booths I stopped by at was MuD, aka MakeUp Designory. I've seen their products at the beauty schools I've toured but never actually tried them out. I figure, if their products are used at the beauty schools, then the quality must be fantastic. Here's a quick 411 on MuD: They are a school that provides quality education with a passion. MuD conducts numerous tests on their line of products to ensure that their brand is up to par for the cosmetic industry. They promise quality, long-lasting wearbility and flawless application. Read on for my review!

I love finding products that are high in quality and at a reasonable price. Which is great for me because that means that I don't have to use a ton of product for a certain look. The palette I got comes a good sized mirror, 6 slots for eye shadows and 2 slots for blush. I love that the palette is so versatile, sleek and slim, it's kind of sexy [is that strange that I jsut called a palette sexy? lol]. I have never actually owned a palette that I can change out the colors, so I am super happy about that. Colors are easy to pop in and easy to pop out and in my palette I have almost everything I need. It's compact so it fits perfectly in my purse without being in the way.
I did have a chance to do some swatches for you guys to see. I chose 6 random-ish eye shadow colors which are; Dulce De Leche, Firebrick, Espresso, Voodoo, Smoked Sapphire and Onyx. I wanted colors that I know I would wear a lot and then a few colors that I wear just to go out and of course a random bright color [Firebrick]. As for the blush colors I chose the Soft Peach and Russet. I love the blush colors, they are in the same family of orange-ish. I can use Soft Peach for work and then go a little bit darker with Russet for night life, or I just mix the two and get an in between color. I also got a Lip Glaze in Bare, a neutral lip color because I haven't ventured into the world of bright lip colors yet.

I am super happy with my purchase with MuD Cosmetics. The quality of their products are amazing and they last all day long. I did have a small snafu though. When I purchased my products at IMATS, I really should have double checked my colors because I was accidentally given 2 wrong colors. So I contacted them through FaceBook and had a reply in seriously 5 minutes. Customer service is really great, they sent me my original colors right away and without any extra charges. Great products and fantastic customer service, I seriously couldn't be happier.
Would I recommend MuD Cosmetics to my fellow beauty junkies? Of course! You guys should definitely check out their cosmetics line and if you're looking to go to a makeup school, they could be the one for you! I just wish they were a little bit closer to me so I could take part in their makeup artist program [one of my dreams!]. Anyway, I started doing this new trick that I learned from Eye Kandy, mixing glitter colors to create new and different looks. Thanks to IMATS LA I now mix my glitters. It must have slipped my mind because for some reason it had never crossed my mind to mix Eye Kandy Glitter colors together [duh!]. I love the out comes and I can get super creative in anyway I want. In this video tutorial I just did a more natural neutral look that I can wear every day. Check out the video below. Let me know what you guys think and also, throw me some color ideas and I'll come up with a video for you!
Review

I personally do not have gray hairs, don't ask me how that is possible, with all of the stress I go through I'm surprised I'm not gray all over [lol]. Fortunately, my husband, Sean, has abundant of gray hairs, but it's also unfortunate for him because he HATES it. Lucky for him, I decided to test out Generation Klean's Hair Mascara Gray Disappear on him.

Sean is a newbie to product reviews so he had a few questions that I thought was cute. Here's a few things he asked:
" Is this going to hurt?"
" How long is this going to take, because I want to watch the
Home Run Derby" [lol.. typical guy ]
" Does it stink, if it does, how long will the smell last?"

Funny right? Well to answer his questions, no it doesn't hurt. It's mascara, it's just like putting on mascara on your eyelashes. It didn't take very long at all, a few swipes and we were done. I loved that I didn't have to use a ton of product to get great coverage. Best part of it all, it doesn't have a weird scent, actually it didn't smell at all. We used the Onyx [Black] Hair Mascara, so it can get a little messy if you are trying to cover up a lot of hair, which Sean did have a lot to cover up. It washes off your fingers very easily, so no need to stress about stains on your fingers.

What I loved most about Generation Klean's Hair Mascara Gray Disappear is that it's Paraben-free. I love that Jasmine and JD took so much time and put a lot of heart into a product that has less toxic ingredients and is safe for beauty lovers. It's super easy to use and can be done in a matter of minutes, depending on your hair length or what you're trying to cover. It covers grays amazingly well, as you can see in the picture above, and looks natural. I asked Sean what it felt like to have in his hair, he said it kind of feels like mousse. So that's great to know that Generation Klean's Hair Mascara isn't sticky or feels funky. Since Sean has never been to the hair salon, the Hair Mascara Gray Disappear is great for our last minute date nights or if he's simply going out with the boys. It comes off easily, no need for extra product to remove the Hair Mascara, just shampoo and water in the shower and you're done. Easy to put on and easy to take off, what more could you ask for?

Does Sean love the product? Yes he does! I'm so glad that I was able to experiment on his hair [since he has so many gray hairs... sorry hunny lol]. Another awesome way you can use Generation Klean's Hair Mascara Gray Disappear is to add temporary highlights! I haven't done this yet, but now that I have time to I will definitely put in some reds and blondes in my hair just for fun. Those pictures will come later, so be on the look out for an update. Don't forget to 'like' Generation Klean on their Facebook Fan Page and/or follow them on Twitter for tips, advice and updates on upcoming new products that are Klean.
Do you know what ingredients are in some of the beauty products you're using? Does anyone ever look? I usually do and always look for mostly clean, natural, paraben free products [this list could go on, but I'll stop it there]. It's definitely a must to know what you're putting on your body, let a lone your skin or face. I love that new companies are taking drastic measures in creating products that are good and safe for us to use. We don't have to be afraid of increasing the risks and the dangers of getting cancer related health problems with companies like Generation Klean.

If you don't know about Generation Klean, then you need to jump on this knowledge train. Generation Klean was created by Jasmine and JD because they wanted healthier and cleaner products without the mess of numerous toxic ingredients like Parabens, Sulfate and Glycol. They wanted to help people save money and prolong hair coloring treatments that you get from a salon. Can you really achieve outer beauty without the concerns of toxic ingredients? YES, with Generation Klean products, you will have that peace of mind in knowing that their products are Klean and are also loved by dermatologists and skincare professionals. Check out the video below from the show The Doctors about their latest product, Gray Disappear.

Gray Disappear is a hair mascara that covers gray hairs, and also adds highlights to the hair temporarily. It contains Vitamin E and other natural waxes that help keep the gray away, while enhancing your outer beauty. This product isn't just for women, yes you read that right. Men can use it too! Especially in their beards, mustaches or gotee's that are showing a little gray. This will also boost their confidence because they will instantly look younger with all the gray hairs covered. I love that Generation Klean caters to both sexes, rather than just for women. It comes in 4 shades; Black, Brown, Red and Blonde.

Do any of you know what IMATS is? Let me tell you, it is one of the most amazing trade shows ever. IMATS aka International Makeup Artist Trade Show, is a huge gathering of vendors, makeup artists, and enthusiasts [like me]. The line to get in was seriously so massive that it wrapped around the building.

My husband tagged along with me, he's so sweet to join me in my adventures. This was our convo as we pulled up:

Him: "OMG babe, all of these people are here for makeup?".
Me: Yes, they sure are babe! =)
Him: "I'm in the wrong business, I need to get on this beauty train asap".

He's too funny! Anyway, at the main show, vendors proudly displayed their best products from the industry and most of them were at a discounted rate from 20%-40% off retail. There were also amazing artists showing off their talents, a few classes and seminars. I really wished that I could have stayed the whole day, but parental duties call, so I had to come home earlier than anticipated.
She and I have been blogging together for Beauty Collection for quite some time and have finally met face to face. We were only missing our other friend, Kit from Frances Is A Beauty. Don't worry Kit, one day, we'll all unite!
If it weren't for Eye Kandy, I probably wouldn't have been able to make it up to Los Angeles for the show. I LOVE their products, and had the pleasure to finally meet Jamie from Eye Kandy. I LOVE her, she has such a huge heart! She was sick but was still there through out the whole weekend representing her brand! I hope you finally got some rest after the show Jamie! Thank you for everything. Don't forget to check out Eye Kandy's Facebook Fan page for updates loves!

There was also a FX hall with all of the amazing FX creations done by artists. They were all so life like it was scary, but amazing at the same time.

I know I'm fired for not taking more pictures, but check out what I have below. I have a few but not nearly enough. Maybe next time I'll remember to take more pictures, but the show was really just so awesome that I was too busy starring and not remembering to take pictures - oops my bad. I did get some new products, so be on the look out for those reviews.
